I think Close Combat would have to be made much simpler to work on an iPad with touch controls. It would be more of an arcade game than anything else. It also opens up the game to micro transactions such as buying new maps, new units etc etc... the way all the games work on devices these days.

Both options, I don't have an IPad so it's not for me, but since a lot of people do have an IPad it could mean more people will start playing Close Combat.

I tried to play in Close Combat on my Windows 8 tablet. Close Combat may be great mobile game, but now it have few problems.
At first, map scrolling is terrible. You need touch minimap any time you want scroll, very annoying and not precise.
Second, small units. Catch one soldier to give order is a great problem.
Third, order menu is small, and don't optimized for touch. I can't send unit on the opposite end of the map (because scrolling problem).
But game have great potential for improving, and I hope that the controls will be upgraded to a touch-interface

Now I play in CC3 on my windows tablet with touchmousepointer software. Slightly unusual and slightly uncomfortable, but the game works well.
In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
